I humbly post a link here.

It's on the history of Freemasonry and I really think it is worth a read.

Sorry - completely disagree with the paper and it's foundations, it's inaccurate and makes some enormous jumps in logic and fact. I hope those who read it enjoy the work the author has put in but they should also keep their own opinions on the subject

The author seems to be in accordance with the likes of Frances A. Yates and David Stevenson on the influence of Rosicrucianism (and thus Hermetism) on Freemasonry. And as he states much documents unearthed in recent decades are still to be analysed. I think it's a very intresting path to explore on the history of esoteric traditions in general and Freemasonry in particular. I feel it is about time it is done and it's great to see that the Southern Jurisdiction puts the effort in.

Thank you Janus for a most interesting paper. There is much contained therein with which I find myself in agreement. Of course we will never know for certain who is totally correct but I do lean towards the Rosecrucian line as regards Freemasonry and its hidden meanings, etc. Whatever it has developed into now, and there are various streams of Freemasonry Universal running concurrently, it certainly existed as we would be able to understand it long before 4 London Lodges met in a pub in 1717 to found a Grand Lodge.

After Chevalier Ramsay's oration there was an outpouring of higher degrees. No doubt some were fakes but I suspect some were derived from previously secret traditions.

Could those secret traditions even now take precedence over a self-proclaimed Grand Lodge in London in 1717?

Who could think such a thought after swearing allegiance to the GL at initiation?
