Brethren and friends

I found this post/thread incredibly sad and at first did not know what to make of it.  It moved from a friendly and warm invitation to an almost complete disregard of my Home Country.

South Africa successfully hosted the following International Sports events since its readmission in 1991, without any major incidents.

2009 ICC Champions Trophy, 2009 FIFA Confederations Cup, 2009 Indian Premier League

2007 World Twenty20 Championships

2006 Paralympic Swimming World Championships

2005-2008 Women's World Cup of Gulf

2003 Cricket World Cup, 2003 President's Cup

1998 World Cup of Athletics

1996 Africa Cup of Nations, 1996 World Cup of Golf

1995 Rugby World Cup

Since 2006 A1 Grand Prix

Since 2003 Fina Swimming World Cup

Since 1998 Red Bull Gig Wave Africa

I am sure the 2010 FIFA World Cup will be the same.  With the groundwork done and the time ticking, we can only Hope and Pray for major support from our friends all over the World

Sincerely and Fraternally

The problem is not so much South Africa per se - the problem is football. Football can often attract a certain element that cause a great deal of trouble. Mix the hooligans from Europe with alcohol and add the South Africa authorities and it is possibly a dangerous concoction.

We are now at the Final stage and there has been zero trouble, VM, care to comment on why the 'mindless violence' did not occur?
